For brand-new items, such as freshly released vinyl, books, or media, the condition is generally assumed to be Mint. In these cases:
The condition field does not appear on the listing.
Buyers expect the sleeve, media, or pages to be flawless.
Any variation, such as a limited edition or packaging difference, is handled through product options (e.g., color, size, edition) rather than a condition field.
Focus on edition details, packaging, or other features instead of grading.
For used or second-hand items, displaying condition is mandatory. Buyers need precise information about what to expect. This includes both overall wear and the condition of key components:
Vinyl: Separate the sleeve condition (cover quality, creases, markings) from the media condition (scratches, playability).
Books: Note cover wear, page quality, and any annotations.
Other products: Describe any visible wear or defects that could affect appearance or functionality.
To ensure the condition field is visible for your item:
In your listing edition, locate the “Second-Hand” checkbox.
Tick this checkbox to set the item as second-hand.
Once selected, the condition field will appear on the listing for you to specify grading.
Using standardized grading terms like Mint, Very Good, Good, and Acceptable ensures consistency across all listings. For example, a vinyl record with a slightly worn cover but a perfect disc could be listed as:

New release items: Condition is assumed to be perfect; any differences are handled through options like edition or color.
